I don't know whether to be embarassed or impressed...

Almost a month ago was Brad's family reunion. Right before that Brad and I were trying to figure out what our schedule's were going to be like when he started school. The only problem we found was that one day a week our schedules overlapped...I work from 11-9 and his class went from 1-2 pm. And we only have one car. The college isn't that far from our house so yes, he could walk or bike. But the summers are so hot and the winters so cold that we decided we needed a back-up. Yeah we would like to get another car, but another car payment isn't really within our budget right now. Brad remembered that his Uncle here in Toquervilly sometimes has cars around that he has fixed up and sells. So when we were at the reunion Brad talked to his Uncle to see if he had anything. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depends on who your talking to) he happened to have a car for only $500. He showed it to Brad and the rest was history. This car.... I have no words to explain this car. It runs...it has seatbelts...it...well that's about all. Brad loves this car...I guess while growing up one of his friends had a car like this one (but nicer) and he just remembers riding in it and wishing he had one...and now he does :) And maybe saying that Brad loves this car is a little over the top, he does like it but I think that he more loves the idea of fixing something. Having something to tinker with and be proud of when he fixes it. Jacob loves helping Daddy "fix the car". The other day we were out working on it and Brad asked me if we had any pliers (sp?) Jacob went inside with me and I forgot about the pliers and started to get ready to go to work and Jake comes up to me with these little plastic pliers from one of his toy tool sets and says "Daddy fix car" meaning he wanted to take them to Daddy...and I would have let him if I wasn't half way into the shower when it had happened. It was very sweet! I love that Jacob gets to see his Daddy doing things like that and that he likes to help him and be around him doing those manly things.:)

So here are the before pictures. I haven't taken any after pictures yet, but we have vacuumed it and cleaned it up a little bit, nothing major, and Brad has been working on some minor repairs so we can get it registered.

And for the record it does have seats, Brad just took them out so we could get all of that junk under them vacuumed out. It was pretty gross!

Oh and for those of you who care...it's a '81 Toyota Celica.

So to explain my post's title...I don't know whether to be embarassed that we own a car like this and that yes there may be a day when I have to drive this thing or impressed that this thing still runs. Either way I love my husband and am happy that he has the ambition to deal with an older car and all the repairs and mishaps that come along with it, just so we can save some money :)

4th of July

The fourth of July this year wasn't all that exciting. It was nice though cause both Brad and I were both home to be able to do fireworks with Jacob and G-ma and Papa Bunderson. I had to work that day but luckily I just happened to get off work early that night, (which was weird as it was a Saturday and a Holiday and usually that means I will be busy) so I got to come home and have dinner with Brad and Jacob and when it was just starting to get dark we went out and had some fun.

Jacob was VERY excited about all of the fireworks! He loved the ones that he could do, like the Pop-its and those champagne bottle things that you pull the strings and streamers pop out. He liked the sparklers too but at first he was very afraid of them...

but he eventually warmed up to them...

He actually got to be so comfortable around them that he decided to try and grab the hot end of a burned out one and got a little blister on his thumb. It didn't bother him at all after the fact but at first it scared him...and then he learned why Mommy and Daddy kept telling him not to touch that end of the sparkler :)

I love these two pictures of him. The one where his mouth is open...I think we had just lit the first fountain Jacob has probably ever seen and he couldn't believe it...I am so glad I was able to catch it on camera.

And this is everyone that was there that night, except for me. I hate that I am always the one taking the pictures cause then I am never in them :(.

I have a lot more pictures from that night, cause Jacob was being so silly and funny. But there the kind of pictures that only a mother would appreciate and to everyone else they may be a little bit boring. ;)

After we finished our fireworks, we were able to see the city fireworks pretty good right from our house so we didn't have to move. And Jacob went to bed about 3 hours late but he had a blast and so did we.

How do you handle 100+ degree weather?....

I don't handle it very well at all. I have told Brad many times if we decide we are going to stay here in St. George permanently and if we ever buy a house here it will have a pool!!! But until then we just have to make do with what we can....

Jacob LOVES the water!!! He cannot get enough of it, he has been to the lake and to the river both of which he did not want to get out of. We are taking him to the beach in a couple of weeks and I am excited to see if he will want to get into the water there.

Well obviously I have found my camera chord...actually Brad found it. Yeah!!! So there will be more to come.
